Our programs are designed to engage students’ natural curiosity and provide experiential learning opportunities in nature.   Bring Your Students to the Dunwoody Nature Center!

     Field Trips are not available during June, July, or August or during Dekalb County school breaks. At the Dunwoody Nature Center, classes move through the meadow and trails of our park led by our highly trained staff of environmental educators for a hands-on learning experience that reinforces and brings to life the STEM concepts that they are taught in the classroom. Our field trips are correlated to Georgia Standards of Excellence according to grade level and subject area using academically-based curriculum materials. We feature three distinct habitats — stream, wetlands, and forest — that are ideally suited to enhance the fundamentals of environmental science in a controlled setting. Many of our field trips are available for outreach at your school as well. To learn more scroll down to see all of our field trips by grade level. Our Pre-K programs are one-hour with a minimum charge of $125 (covers up to 15 students ) / $10.00 per student after the minimum; Our K-5th programs are one-and-a-half hours with a minimum charge of $150 (covers up to 15 students) / $12.00 per student after the minimum.      If you can’t make it to the Dunwoody Nature Center for a field trip, let the Dunwoody Nature Center come to your school for an outreach program. Our naturalists travel to your school with a variety of natural teaching materials that will educate students in an experiential manner.      The history of life in the Middle Ages, knights, horsemanship, and chivalry are woven into a fun, interactive 90-minute show that your students will love! Our educational shows are closed to the public to ensure a safe and secure experience. The matinee includes an educational presentation followed by a live tournament where students can cheer for their knight as he competes to be named Champion of the Realm. Dine on a "hands-on" four-course lunch and witness authentic jousting, sword fighting, and medieval games of skill. Watch in awe as magnificent Andalusian stallions perform the beautiful art of dressage and a rare falcon takes flight above the Grand Arena. Homeschoolers welcome at every show with no group minimum! Can't make the matinee? All student groups are welcome to attend our public evening and weekend shows for a discounted rate. Our self-guided school tours typically take 1 1/2 hours to complete, of course you are welcome to stay longer if you would like! Schools are welcome to use the picnic tables under our giant 72? x 40? pavilion on a first come, first serve basis (the corn maze is open to the public during school tour times.) Bring along blankets for additional lunch time seating.
